We’re delighted to have been awarded £204,000 by The National Lottery Community Fund. This award covers activity over the coming three years. It will enable us to both broaden and deepen our engagement with people across Trowbridge.
This project will be led by Tessa Slack, who has managed bookings and volunteers in the Town Hall since 2016, as well as leading on the Celebrating Trowbridge community fair in 2020 and the first edition of the community newspaper this year.
Tessa says: “I love groups and activities, meeting people and trying new things and this job wraps all these passions into one. I am amazed at the range of activities going on in Trowbridge and keen to both continue to work with existing groups and projects, and to support others wanting to start new things. So, if you are interested in getting involved with the Town Hall, have a great new idea, or want to make a new project come to life, please get in touch with me on [email protected]. Better still come down to the Town Hall for a cup of tea and a chat.”
David Lockwood, Director of Trowbridge Town Hall Trust, adds, “This is a clear recognition of vital importance of the historic Town Hall in the contemporary life of Trowbridge. The potential of this civic building to support lives of those in the town finds its inspiration in our founding purpose ‘for the benefit of the inhabitants of the town for ever’. This funding will allow us to make a step change in the work not only of the Town Hall but of Trowbridge’s community and voluntary sector as a whole.”
Trowbridge Town Hall Trust runs the iconic building at the heart of the town. Over the last decade, the charity has filled the building with community activity, cultural events, and markets. It is home to the Free Range Café, Uncover shop for Wiltshire artists, ten creative studios, a gallery and weekly independent cinema and live music gigs.
