We’re really pleased to be able to announce that the Town Hall has been granted £8.1 million to enable its restoration.
Over the last two years, we’ve been working with Wiltshire Council and consultants to test ideas and build a sound business case for the development of the historic building. This has resulted in us securing the cornerstone investment from central government through the Future High Streets Fund.
We’re now revising plans, with a design team headed by architects Purcell. We’re also in conversation with other funders to bring in additional investment to maximise the development of the building.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to restore the magnificent and iconic Grade 2-listed building. Moreover, it can lead to a reimagined town centre, with community ownership and culture at its heart.
Central to the plans will be increasing engagement and access. We’d love to hear your ideas for how you’d like to use the building post-development. There’ll be a two-day public event at the end of January and if you want to get even more involved, you can join our membership here.
This project could be transformational for the Trowbridge, kickstarting a reenergised town centre. To get this far has only been possible because of you, our supporters. So, thank you. And we hope to see you soon.
If you have any questions about the project, you can find our FAQ’s page here, or drop us an email on [email protected]
