In this gentle charmer, Daya (Lalit Behl), a 77-year-old father, decides to end his days in the holy city of Varanasi, on the banks of the Ganges and attain salvation, with his son Rajiv (Adil Hussain) accompanying him. Daya thinks that death is a few weeks away, but their journey is depicted with humour and pathos. The film is a delicate exploration of a father-son relationship and the meaning of life, told with gentle humour in the context of an ancient city which is trying to face modernity.
The film won the UNESCO award at Venice Film Festival, the Critics Award at Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema and Best Film at the New York Indian Film Festival, and showcases bravura performances from renowned actors Adil Hussain (Life of Pi), Lalit Behl (Titli) and Geetanjali Kulkarni (Court).
