Thanks to funding from Wiltshire Music Connect, we were able to run six Routes Into Live Music sessions in early 2022. These sessions were for young people within the community who were interested in a career in the music industry.

The 6 weekly, interactive workshops were run by successful professionals within the music business. Guest speakers included:

Matt Biffa – (renowned music supervisor on Harry Potter films, I May Destroy You and many more)
Tom Bazeley – (Town Hall studio artist and part of the Purple Noise team)
Jack Clothier – (Alcopop Records, record label management, record production)
Phil Cooper – (local songwriter specialising in social media analytics and marketing)
Fiona Riches – (studio engineer and live events engineer at Thekla, Bristol)
Joe Heap – (festival organizer of Towersey and Sidmouth Folk Festivals)
Helen Lister – (how to run your own independent record shop/venue, Rough Trade)
Kieran Moore – (Sheer Music, all aspects of sound/lights/running and promoting your own gigs)
Marc Burrows – (Seasoned music journalist and Guardian/Observer music critic)

Over the 6 week programme, participants developed an understanding of what is needed to become an active professional within the music and audio industries. This helped provide the knowledge and confidence to work in the business, whilst encouraging each individual to develop a progressive approach to the music industry, collaborate with like-minded young people and explore all career paths available to them.
