Location: Trowbridge Town Hall
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, including evenings and weekends as required
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £30,000 (pro rata)
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Technical Operations Manager to take the lead in building maintenance, venue systems management, and technical support for events at Trowbridge Town Hall.
Initially, the focus of the role will be on building and system maintenance, ensuring that the venue’s infrastructure, equipment, and essential systems are well-maintained, safe, and fully operational.
In addition, the Technical Operations Manager will provide technical support for events and venue hires, assisting with the setup and operation of lighting, sound, audiovisual, and staging equipment as needed.
As we complete the fit-out of the venue following a major refurbishment, the ability to work with the Project Manager to oversee procurement and installation of equipment and to quickly become familiar with the building systems and wiring is key. Experience managing maintenance contracts, working with external contractors, and responding to urgent building-related issues is highly desirable.
We recognise that building maintenance and live event production require different skill sets, and we want to clarify that the primary focus of this role is on building maintenance and general event support.
As the events programme expands, there is potential for the role evolve to include greater involvement in live event production and technical operations, as well as overseeing the use of recording studios. There is also potential for hours to increase in line with this growth.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a building maintenance role, with a strong understanding of technical and building systems, equipment upkeep, and general maintenance. A background in technical production (e.g., lighting, sound, and AV for live events) is also valuable.
We understand that part-time hours may not suit everyone. If this would prevent you from applying, please get in touch – we’re happy to discuss potential flexibility. As a small organisation, we value adaptability and a willingness to learn. If you have strengths in one area but less experience in another, we’d still love to hear from you – we’re happy to discuss how the role can be shaped to suit the right person.
